Drone strikes and Oil – The Attack on Saudi Arabia

Throughout history, we have heard about various attacks, may it be by terror groups or due to wars among countries. One such attack happened recently that gained much attention and has a huge impact all across the globe. This is the drone strike in the oil refineries of Saudi Arabia on 14th September whose oil reserves are second largest in the world and supply nearly 16% of oil in the world.

A Battle for regional hegemony

The middle-east region has been in a state of turmoil for decades with episodes of civil wars, uprisings, and airstrikes making it to the news headlines almost every other day. The ongoing Cold War between the region’s two most powerful nations has torn the region apart, resulting in two of the worst humanitarian crises the world has witnessed.

The Young Prince and his Arab Empire

Saudi Arabia has long been a country associated with Wahhabism. Wahhabism is a religious movement and Islamic Doctrine often known as an ultra conservative, austere form of Islam. There is an official pact between the House of Saud and Wahhabi clerics. The country is ruled by the Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman popularly known as MbS and it is about him that I explain it in this article.
